Hello Lexington, Kentucky pediatric therapy community! Sensory bins are a fun way to help your child play in the snow when it is too cold or icy to get outside!
Sensory bins can be used to work on:
visual scanning to find objects
exploration of senses
labeling of body signs
hand strength – using both hands together to dig, push, hold tools
pinch patterns – pair grippers, tongs, chip clips, clothespins for hand strength
Graded muscle control- practice gentle, medium, and hard force
It can be hard to find meaning and fun through disrupted schedules. Children may miss school, friends, etc.
Our occupational therapy is therapy through connection! Connecting you to resources, tools, and activities to put the FUN in functional. Did you know we can do telehealth consults that allow us to see inside your home? For those children, babies, and adults out of state, we also offer private pay coaching services to give your knowledge and see inside your home? We can consult with you to set up your environments in ways that enhance your health and structure home programs in a way to help your child and you thrive!
We are also adding therapy for adults in Lexington, Kentucky. Our therapy office is at Hamburg but we also travel to private schools near the office; Dr. Day offers services in private schools and daycares in Richmond on Wednesdays. We welcome to our team an occupational therapist with experience in mental health for adults and teenagers (having done fieldwork at Eastern State hospital) as well as training and experience in pediatrics. Both of our occupational therapy doctors have experience working with clients of all ages and tools to help those in Central Kentucky and the world grow.
The sensory health, reflex, motor, and lifestyle renovation OT Doctor Experts are here for you– through seasons of stress, winter storms, etc. with creativity, passion, and evidence to help you design activities and lifestyles to accomplish your goals.
We can’t wait until this snow passes so we can show you our sensory bins in our therapy Hamburg office in Lexington, Kentucky.
