In honor of Martin Luther King day/week, here are some quotes which remind me of the importance of unity, peace, justice, and intentional living:
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only LOVE can do that.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light.”- Albus Dumbledore
“We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy. “-Albus Dumbledore
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”. – Martin Luther King Jr.
“We’ll fight, not out of spite. For someone must stand up for what’s right ‘Cause where there’s a man who has no voice. There ours shall go singing.” – Jewel, My Hands
“First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.” -Niemöller
“Look how a single candle can both defy and define the darkness.” – Anne Frank
“To love someone means to see him as God intended him.”- Fyodor Dostoesvky
Dear Lord, open our eyes and help us lead intentional lives which honor you and uplight others with love and encouragement. Cleanse our mind of any “us/them” thinking. Help us see people with your eyes.
